Photography

Photographers tell stories that cannot be put into words. Photography is the first skill I took to when I entered the yearbook classroom. I have had a camera attached to me for the past four years and because of it my peers and members of my community have come to know me as one of "the girls with the cameras." From sports photography to academic photography I have learned how to manipulate my camera depending on lighting, weather conditions, and events.

Photo Editing

When it was time to edit my first photoshoot and I opened Adobe Bridge it seemed like rocket science. All of the different elements of the image can be altered and how they each individually affect the photo.

However, now I've learned that all of these elements are so individually important. All coming together to make the photo clearer and more vibrant.

While editing can be tedious and time-consuming, when done correctly it can be super beneficial to the publication.

Academic/School Event Photography

My school is one that is very active inside the classroom, which provides several photoshoot opportunities. From biology lab experiments to pep rallies to graduation there is a never-ending list of things to capture.

Extracurricular Photography

Events that occur outside of school are just as worthy of documentation as that outside of school, and I don't mean sports. Clubs and Organizations such as Drama and Choir prepare their events for weeks and even months before production begins. Having the opportunity to photograph events like these truly tests and strengthens skills and is super important to inclusion within the publication.

Sports Photography

I saved my favorite for last.

Coming from a school that very sports heavy, there is a never-ending list of photo opportunities every day. This being the case sports photography is the majority of what I work on, and I am constantly able to get better and better at learning new techniques.

Being on the sidelines of an event gives me a rush of excitement that being in the stands just doesn't do. Plus the view is 10x better.

Below are examples of some of my best sports photography work.

This photoshoot is one that is very dear to my heart. Last year I conducted a feature on the first hijabi to graduate from Lafayette High School. Her story is one that is extremely important to the history of our school and being able to capture her in her glory was super important.
