Design & Editing
During my junior year as a senior editor, I began to find my footing in design. Being one of the three senior editors in the room I took it upon myself to better understand the aspects of graphic design and spread design. This has allowed me to lead and teach others better when I am no longer there to give guidance.
This feature spread was published in our 2020 publication. The girl featured made history as the first hijabi to graduate from our high school.

As this year's Editor-in-Chief it was my responsibility to come up with a theme and design the cover. With the theme as "Anchored", this cover design has a major element of the anchor and triangles based on the angles that the anchor presents.
Transforming the photo on the right into the cutout on the left took an entire week in photoshop. Learning to create the effect and putting in the hours to get the result I desired assisted me in learning the lesson that tedious work can be exhausting; however, in the end, can be worth the time.
Along with designing within my publication I also do other designs for my school. It is the work that I and my fellow seniors of The Commodore have done outside of our publication that has created the Commodore Media Group, an organization focused on promoting our school.
A design created in order to announce the commitment of one of our senior football players to the University of Southern Mississippi.
These designs were made for our football media guide which would be sold to fans. The design on the left is the cover design.
